Wheelchair distribution

Amongst the 34 wheelchairs that have been distributed up to recently, children from Bambanani and the clinic have benefited from this worthy cause. Still an ongoing effort.

Member-Gets-Member

With the initiative of President Giovanni, Cycad has started a rewards programme for expanding on membership. The lucky recipients so far have been Rtn Wessie, Rtn Loekie, Rtn Colin and President Giovanni. We have now welcomed 4 new rotarians into our club and plan to continue with our Member-gets-member programme.

Fellowship

The new Rotary year of 2009-2010 kicked in with some general maintenance and repainting of our clubhouse at the Care Village. High on the agenda of course was some good old fellowship, which was enjoyed by all.

Garden Project

A successful garden project has been initiated at the Middelburg Combined School by the club. It started off as a "patch" and has now grown into a food machine that feeds plenty. We are very proud of the hard working pupils, who, through their dedication and efforts, received merit awards and MP3 players from Cycad as a reward.

Distribution of wholesome fruit

Cycad was proud to accompany Pick 'n' Pay to the nursery schools of Rosebuds and Bambanani, where the children received lots of fruit donated by the supermarket. The children were delighted to receive such a treat!

Literacy Project

With the assistance of PP Bob Savage of the Rotary Club of Benoni Van Ryn D9300, Cycad was able to load up as many books as possible, as well as a computer from the Humanitarian Distribution & Service Centre for distribution to the Middelburg Combined School. Textbooks for all grades were received with open arms from the school. The school principal Mr Willie Jansen and his deputy, Rtn Coleen and President Giovanni, together with the aid of the enthusiastic scholars, made light work of stocking up the library, which was put into immediate use.

Seniors to Badplaas

As always it was wonderful to see the joy of the seniors who visited Badplaas and the Rotary resort. It is always good to see Rotarians carrying luggage and assisting those in need.
Well done --- Wessie!!!!!

The Anns of the Middelburg Cycad rotary club visited the seniors at the St Josephs Old Age Home. President Ansia and the Anns presented the appreciative seniors with biscuits and a lot of love.

Bambanani Home Based Care

Palisade fencing has been provided to enhance the security for the children at the Bambanani Home Based Care Centre. Honorary Rotarian Kathy Porterfield is seen decorating a classroom at the centre. Many smiling faces can be seen after receipt of much needed stationary for their education
