The Rotary Club Middelburg Cycad requested the assistance from Primary Schools to collect shoes for their project “Operation Skatule” for less privileged scholars attending school in out lying and farming areas of our town that Constable Mashaba identified.
C R Swart and Middelburg Laerskool opened their hearts and school shoes, as well all sorts of other footwear was generously donated to the Rotarians. On 21 January 2010 school shoes were distributed to some of the scholars at Batlagae Primary. The children were also advised to even recycle shoes, “Don’t throw shoes away, we will find a grateful recipient. Let us all look after what we have, respect our privilege and share with each other,” was the lesson taught by Constable Mashaba. The other shoes will be distributed during the week. All schools are encouraged to join in with this drive to assist children who walk long distances to school barefoot. Kindly call Rotarian Coleen Lamprecht at 013 2432897 and to collect any shoes.
